If you're looking for the transcend shirts click here. But this is a good blog post so you might want to read it first. :-)
“Little minds are tamed and subdued by misfortune; but great minds rise above them”. -- Washington Irving
We propose that there are two layers of bullshit in life.
Layer one is muck almost everyone wades through -- toxic relationships, difficult childhoods, financial stressors, bad habits and dead end jobs. Layer two is more nuanced. It’s about rising above what holds you back in more subtle ways -- the nagging fears that tragically guide decisions, the values of others encroaching on our lives without us noticing, or the reactionary way we keep managing the daily grind.
Oftentimes, bullshit isn’t a smelly muck. It can disguise itself as a constant hum of noise you no longer hear. Or a cage of limitations you no longer see. It becomes acceptance of the way things are instead of a striving for the way things could be.
All great ideas, great art, and innovation in all realms, comes from transcending status quo problems, expectations and limitations. Leaders and visionaries transcend the everyday bullshit as evidenced by the fact that we once lived in caves and then traveled to the Moon.
Nikola Tesla, in 1926, transcended every limitation and reality in front of him in society at the time to envision what we now know as reality -- the internet and cell communication.
He said, "When wireless is perfectly applied the whole earth will be converted into a huge brain, which in fact it is, all things being particles of a real and rhythmic whole. We shall be able to communicate with one another instantly, irrespective of distance. Not only this, but through television and telephony we shall see and hear one another as perfectly as though we were face to face, despite intervening distances of thousands of miles; and the instruments through which we shall be able to do his will be amazingly simple compared with our present telephone. A man will be able to carry one in his vest pocket."
It’s true, you may not be able to transcend current perception enough to become the modern day Nikola Tesla. But you can definitely transcend the bullshit around you holding you back in life.
Ask yourself: Is there a better way? Am I accepting stuckness? Why am I living the way I live?
We are held back every day by our fears, our cognitive biases, and the lies we’re told and then tell ourselves. But you can choose to rise above the sea of irrelevant values and concerns gathering below. Don’t let your worldview be blurred by the common, daily noise. You can transcend the bullshit and define for yourself what is real, what matters, and what can be achieved.
